On The Road #19
Highest greetings from Amsterdam, where I'm writing from the Radio Free Amsterdam studios at Singel 10, inside & underneath the Hempshopper store in the new Green Light District just west of Centraal Station.
Resting up from all my recent travels started just this morning and will continue through the winter, interrupted (so far) only by the forthcoming flurry of Cannabis Cup activities here in Amsterdam next week and a quick trip to England December 5th to interview for a BBC film project on the year 1968.
Since I've been traveling so hard I'm almost three months behind in my Travelogue at www.TravelPod.com/members/johnsinclair, but I intend to start getting caught up this week for real.
Last week I enjoyed a great trip to Santiago, Chile to screen my movie TWENTY TO LIFE: The Life & Times of John Sinclair, a film by Steve Gebhardt, at the Hollyweed Film Festival on November 10th. TWENTY TO LIFE was released October 30 on DVD by Music Video Distributors (MVD).
My perfect host in Santiago, Abogado (attorney) Pedro Mendoza, one of the triumvirate that publishes Canamo magazine and organized the first annual Hollyweed Festival, showed me a terrific time from start to finish, and I had a ball meeting and hanging out with a lot of splendid Chileans during my stay.
Pedro rented me an apartment in a building across the street from the Cine Arte Aladema where the Festival was staged, arranged a number of radio and newspaper interviews for me, and on my days off drove me first way up into the Andes Mountains on a narrow gravel road, and then to Valparaiso on the Pacific Ocean.
Our film was well received by the Festival-goers, and all in all I had a perfectly fine time despite the longest airplane rides I've ever taken. Pedro and I even essayed an episode of the John Sinclair Radio Show [#20-0737] from Santiago and Valparaiso that was finished up last night when I got back to Amsterdam.
On Saturday, November 17, the John Sinclair Radio Show will broadcast from the annual Giant Record Show at Jaarbeurs Utrecht and at Cas Bosland's behest I'll deejay in the big hall for an hour between 5:00 and 6:00 pm.
During the Cannabis Cup we will screen TWENTY TO LIFE at the Melkweg on Tuesday, November 20 at 7:00 pm and do a performance following as part of the Grass-A-Matazz party at the Sugar Factory across the street from the Melkweg. Radio Free Amsterdam will also be broadcasting "live" from the Cannabis College from noon to 7:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, November 19-20-21. And I'll perform my annual Thanksgiving show at the 420 Cafe on Thursday, November 22.
A new episode of my podcast, the John Sinclair Radio Show, is posted every Monday evening at www.RadioFreeAmsterdam.com. My current schedule is posted below:
